If you haven't heard of DJ XS, you should know that he has very quickly made a mark in the Cayman Islands. Growing up in Toronto, Canada, he became very interested in the city's DJs. He remembers going to clubs and being fascinated with the idea of playing music for crowds and so, at the age of 19, he bought his first pair of turntables, and began teaching himself the craft. By the age of 21 he found himself DJing at some of the hottest nightclubs in south-western Ontario, even holding as many as 5 residencies per week. Even after being on island for nearly 7 months, he was crowned the winner of The Annual Heineken Green Synergy DJ Competition in 2008 and represented the Cayman Islands in Kingston, Jamaica at the regional finals in October 2008.
His performance can be found on www.youtube.com. Ofter called "The Remix King" for his instant on-the-spot creation of mashups and remixes, DJ XS's unique skill allowed him to become Cayman's most diverse DJ, appealing to multiple music markets.
Although his passion lies in urban music both current and classic, DJ XS is well educated in various genres of music from Hip Hop, R&B, House, Rock and Old Skool. He prides himself on the fact that no matter what kind of crowd he has listening to him on air or in front of him at the club, he can find a way to accommodate their musical needs.
His influences are DJ Sizzahandz from Crooklyn Clan, Jazzy Jeff, Starting from Scratch, DJ Charlie Brown, and DJ P-Plus.
